Where are your trouble areas?

Everybody has their weak spots. Could be environment, time of the day, who you are surrounded by....what is your trouble spot? A time/place/person who is around, that when you are in that situation, you find yourself having more trouble than normal.
I have a few. Weekends are tougher for me for a couple of reasons.
1: i have more time for myself, boredom leads to snacking
2: i know i dont have work the next day, which leads to the temptation of partaking in a few
             "spirited drinks".
3: running around doing errands leads to more eating out. sometimes hard to choose healthy
options and restaurants, which is made even tougher with w pregnant wife.
What are some of your trouble areas?

Honestly, I have no willpower. Some days are better that others in that respect. I can't beat myself up every single time I slip or I will feel like I am failing at this challenge, so I don't . I Suck it up and hopefully I stay positive. I am getting better with the preplanning foods. Slow and steady works best for me. But you are correct about our busy lifestyles get in the way. Do what you can with what you got and It'll be all good.

My biggest trouble area is lack of sleep. I am up at 6:15 for the kids but I work until midnight. I am sure this has played a part in my recently elevated blood sugars. Makes me far more likely to want to eat something easy. I don't even want to use things like Larabars when I'm tired, I want the nutrition and fullness of real foods, meat and veggies, and being tired makes me not want to prepare anything.

Next component is stress. We all know about stress eating. I am involved in a divorce and trying to save my house. Enough said about that one. It has been difficult to break almost 40 years of junk stress eating. When I was young, I literally would hide/hoard food in my bedroom so others wouldn't know what I was doing. Have made great strides in that department, but the temptation to cheat is there when I'm stressed and especially when the little eyes of accountability aren't around me (my kids).

Third, I, too get invited out to dinner by wonderful friends, but only have one or two who don't get goofy about my dietary choices. Like Ryan's article the other day, I never ever get preachy about my way of eating being better, etc. But now that I have lost some significant inches and look different, I get the "Cmon, one time won't hurt you" stuff and frankly I'd rather stay home and eat alone rather than deal with that. I think sometimes our zeal and compliance with the ways of eating and exercise makes others feel bad for some reason?! Guess I need to hang out with DF folks more.

I have "reprogrammed" myself to think about the ol spirited drinks as sugar, empty calories, and sabotaging, all of which they are. They make my blood sugars rise and I do avoid them. I did have a glass of wine on New Year's Eve, but that was the last time.

My most difficult times are the unfinished plates of my grandsons, who dosen't want the extra mac and cheese or the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that they choose not to eat, they say they are not hungry.......you need to be hungry to eat?, who would have thought...I guess we can learn alot from children. Eat only when you are hungry!

Yes! It's so hard not to "waste" isn't it? My solution is, even though it requires more work on my part, is to provide smaller portions, especially for the littlest. They know they can always have more, but many times they will stop with a much smaller portion than I would have thought.

My stress and challenge is that I work out of my home, and when a stressfull situation/customer or kid problem arises, I find myself mindlessly walking into my kitchen and directly to my pantry. I just eat a handful of something and then walk away. I at least try to have only acceptable foods at hand such as nuts, but I know that I am eating when I am not hungry. I need to break this habit!!

Now you see why I make my teen literally "lock up" his junk food, I too work at home, completely sedentary, 8 hours a day at the computer. The pantry & fridge are just steps away... Good for you for being mindful of the "eating when not hungry" trap, it is a really difficult thing to break, but you can do it!

I think a weak spot for me is the weekends as well. I really do much better when i stick to a routine.

Same here Dekota. Idle hands are the devils playground. If I don't keep my mind occupied or stay active, I will easily move into boredom eating or instant gratification eating of sweets.

My eating is good during the day, it's at
Night when I get home after the gym that I struggle. I'm starving and tired. It's so easy to eat quick bad food rather than cook something to eat at 8:30 p.m. And no one is there to yell,
That's not Paleo! Guess this confirms I'm a closet eater.

My biggest obstacle is work. I've been working alot of overtime lately & that is when I REALLY struggle. Unfortunately I will eat because it is slow or I am getting tired. I do try to get up & walk around and stay away from the vending machine. I do try to pack enough food for the night but sometimes even that runs out.

My biggest obstacles are my colleagues and friends.... Don't get me wrong, I have some great friends and truly professional colleagues but when we get together at social gatherings the main ingredient is alcohol with a lot of salty, unhealthy snacks...So I have been preaching my changes to them, not for them to change but so they understand where I am and that they would respect my choices... At first it was a little difficult and the pressure was constant so I would give an excuse not to meet or go to an outing so I wouldn't be harassed... But now, these same people see the change in me both physically and emotionally and the harassing has turned into questions about my eating habits and what I am doing.....
