Welcome Team Members!

Congratulations!
You have made a decision. Not only to lose weight, but to change your lifestyle for the better! We could not be more excited that you have chosen us to be part of that journey with you! We are here for you when you need us, and even sometimes when you don’t. This choice that you have made, and this journey that we will be embarking upon together, will cause you to think about the choices you are making. It will force you to think about the decisions you are making when it comes to nutrition and exercise. But most importantly, it will make you a “healthier you.” In making this decision and sticking with your commitment, you are also making a commitment to us, your fellow team members, and most importantly, your families and the people that you care about the most.

Think about it this way. By committing to the program and changing your lifestyle, you are in essence committing yourself to spend more time with your family, because a healthier you will live longer. You are committing yourself to having more energy, getting better sleep, and feeling better about yourself! That doesn’t sound so bad does it?

Of course making this lifestyle change will not be easy. If it was easy, then everyone on Earth would be tall, thin, and athletic! However, we are here to guide you through this process. All that we ask of you is to be committed to us and the program. Don’t give up on yourself. Remember, this is a step for you, but when all is said and done, and you can look back at the progress made, this change will be for all those involved in your life, not just yourself. Remind yourself over and over why you signed up in the first place, and if you forgot…..let us know! We would be more than happy to help you along the way.

It comes down to a simple question: what do you want out of life, and what are you willing to do to get it? Deepak Chopra one said “every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask yourself if you want to be a prisoner of the past, or a pioneer of the future.” By signing up today you have made the decision to be a pioneer! Keep reminding yourself why you made the decision and failure will not be an option. Looking forward to meeting with you soon!

I'm ready. I can't wait to start. This is just what I need. I've been doing this for a while now, but every now and then you need a good kick in the pants to keep you on track and not get complacent. This challenge will do just that and will be a great way for all of us to help each other meet our goals. http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/31299347.jpg

Hello Cave-People! I am so excited to help with this team and all of you wonderful ladies and gents :)

As many of you know, I had a less-than-stellar end to 2012 - Murphy's Law steamrolled my house, and let's just say if it could go wrong, it did! As New Year's Eve rolled around, these many nasty events were looming in my mind and negatively affecting my attitude. NOT the way I wanted to begin 2013.

So, step 1: I ripped my 2012 calendar off the wall, took it to my mom & dad's burning barrel, and set it on fire. *POOF* Bye-bye 2012!

Step 2, enter the "Gratefulness Jar" that now is front and center on my desk. My 2013 endeavor is to write all the wonderful and happy things on small slips of paper, dated of course, and drop them into the jar. As the pile in the jar grows, it will sit here as a visible sign of all the good in my life, even if I'm having a bad day. And on December 31, 2013, I will be sitting here reading all the wonderful blessings I have written throughout the year instead of dwelling on anything negative.

Focusing on the positive in my life got me through 2012, and now it is on to bigger and better things in 2013!!!

The Gratefulness Jar sounds like a great way to stay positive throughout a year! I might just have to try that myself. :)

It's awesome that you are doing this together! Don't worry too much about your snacks - after following this way of eating for awhile, you won't be nearly as hungry between meals, and if you are - there are lots of Paleo-friendly snacks for you :)

Karen,
I have to admit that you are one of the reasons I decided to try this way of eating. I told Kerri yesterday on the run that it pisses me off (in a good way) to see how toned you are knowing we do the same workouts....lol She basically told me that changing the way I eat should make a world of difference with my body composition. Please take the being mad at you in a good way because that is what is motivating me. :)

1/6/2013 11:55:22 am

I have to comment up here because it won't let me reply under your last comment. I am glad you are mad at me because you have always been so inspiring workout wise and especially running wise, and I hope I can do the same for you diet-wise!!

I would not be where I am now without wonderful friends like you who are supportive in each and every class :)

I must admit that I was nervous to try this because I don't stick to anything..ever! Reading all the comments and just seeing the support within the first day has really made me glad that I chose to do this. I want to fit into smaller clothes (that I already own but tucked away in the maybe one day closet) and just be healthier.

I am so excited!!! The meeting on Saturday was inspirational, uplifting, and motivating... The crosstraining class with Ryan really kicked my butt, but it was great.... I was not dressed for the run, so I wasn't going to go because I didn't have a hat/gloves, but then I went in my truck and saw I had them there and I went (no excuses!!!)... So glad I went!!! Then today had a great workout with Kerri... Another great workout and another motivational night.... I am truly enjoying myself and I love the Paleo "diet", I get to eat everything I love to eat.. How AWESOME is that?!?!?! I can't wait until my workouts on Wednesday... I love the workouts, the environment, and the people... Postive IS POWERFUL!!!!

I'm very proud that I've been to the gym to work out every day so far, but I did not have the chance to do a class. My schedule is so booked in the PM, and the AM classes just seem too intense for my beginnign status. Hope M.J. offers the fitness ball class on another day/week. I can' make Wed. classes. :( I know, make time. But that is not easy. I feel good about what I'm doing so far and hope to stay motivated to continue the journey.

What a tough challenge... Great work! You will actually get to a point where those foods won't tempt you. Eating clean is resetting your palate ... Soon enough that chocolate cake, those chips, and junk will literally taste like processed garbage!!! Great work on remaining strong and positive!! Make sure you are eating lots of good food when you do eat. Don't be worried so much about portions... Gotta fill up on the good stuff so you aren't starving later!!! Good work!

Antipasto or salads with meat added. Make your own menu. They will usually have no problem making the changes that you ask for. And just remember how much better you will feel. Not only because you are eating healthy, but be proud that you are making this change and have the willpower to do it.

Had a great day today! I had lots of work to do tonight, shampooing carpets in three rooms and then went to the gym for 20 minutes on the treadmill, walk at 3.8 three minutes run 4.5 one minute. It felt good. Healthy dinner of haddock and roasted butternut squash and a green salad. yummy. I'm not too sure that Vic thinks its yummy but if he doesn't want to cook for himself he will learn to like it. hehe

What a workout today... I did the group run yesterday which really felt good... Haven't run more than 3 miles since 2007.... So, I was a little sore today for the cross train workout but I worked through it and it was well worth it... Thanks Ryan... Then if that wasn't enough I tried the 1 hr. spinning with Kerri... Holy Crap that was tough... I could only do 1/2 hour but that was still a hard workout... Thank you Kerri for helping me out.... Then I got home and ate the chicken, spinach, and sweet potato soup that I made and it was really good.... What a great day.... Staying positive and loving life!!!

Went through a tough three days. I guess I am a carb addict. I am better now and I focus on being full rather than the feeling of comfort that I always got from food. Having done Weight Watchers in the past, I know that there is a certain period of time that it takes to achieve a different mindset. If I recall, it is about three weeks for me. WOW is all I can say!!! Yesterday I read a book titled "The Energy Bus" by Jon Gordon. This book is about 10 rules to fuel your life, work, and team with Postive Energy... I wish I would have read this book weeks ago... I was so motivated that I read it twice... I had so much positive energy today, not just from the book but also from working with the DF team... This morning was the first time in 6 years that I was excited to go to work and share my positive energy... In the book it talks about signs and I believe that this challenge, the book, and the bracelet are all signs that I really needed to change, not only my eating habits or working habits but also my whole thought process and how I need to really work on being positive and to stay away from those negative people.... This DF team is the positive energy escape that we all need... I feel safe and not ashamed to try hard know matter what I look like and to continue to work harder because of all of the support that we get when we are at DF.... We are all working together for a common cause to become more healthy and fit individuals so that we can live a longer and fuller life.... One part of the book that was always something that made me think is a story about when President Lyndon Johnson visited NASA and as he was walking the halls he came across a janitor who was cleaning up a storm, like the Energizer bunny with a mop in his hand. The president walked over to the janitor and told him he was the best janitor he had ever seen and the janitor replied, "Sir, I'm not just a janitor, I helped put a man on the moon." This was a person that had a bigger purpose and vision for his life and it reminds me of what we are all doing belonging to this wonderful group of people. We may not be helping to put a man on the moon but as a group we are helping each other to reach and accomplish our goals. THANK YOU!!! POSTIVE IS POWERFUL!!!
