Welcome to the Blog!! I'm very excited to be working with you for the next seven weeks! Please make it a point of tending to the blogs daily!!
Hope you are doing your homework and getting excited about what's in store for you! Remember, if you want to make this change, you must be a willing participant!
So... What are you initial thoughts about Paleo, caveman eating?
Below is a pic of my dinner tonight! It's spaghetti squash, pork sausage, and red onions, zucchini, asparagus, red onion, tomatoes, red peppers in a homemade in a red tomato sauce: w cayenne pepper, black pepper, crushed red pepper, a dash of salt... And my cheat, a Romano cheese topping!! Yum!! It's delicious!!

After one day of the diet I am loving it! Sugar levels kept dropping all day yesterday. I haven't taken the time to fill out my papers but I plan on it. The hardest part for me is drinking only water. I miss my diet Pepsi!

I am struggling already mostly bc we haven't gone food shopping yet ... the thought of giving up diet ice tea and diet pepsi makes me scared.... workouts have been good ... i am doing the homework and writing what i am grateful for, doing the sabatoging thoughts and even created a pretty binder for everything but food in the morning was rough... thinking that once i go grocery shopping tomorrow i will be feeling more optimistic about it (need a paycheck to go grocery shopping).... i keep telling myself baby steps...

I went through the same thing giving up diet soda after drinking it for over 20 yrs. But your taste will adjust and soon water will be the only thing you want.

I was laying in bed last night and remembered I forgot to write down my 5 things I was grateful for. So Mike and I took turns telling each other what we were grateful for yesterday. I actually felt good as I was stating them and believe I even fell asleep with a smile on my face. So far so good with the food. Was a bit rough at summer last night as went to my sons baseball game and was late till we got to eat and stopped at diner to get something. Got a salad and egg and bacon sandwich without the bread :) I am relying heavily on my mentor/sponsor Karen and she is doing an amazing job helping me.

Connie, I love how you and Mike shared that last night! What a great moment! And for some people the act of actually saying it to someone is very difficult. It had to be an awesome moment. So happy for you! :)

HI All!!!!!
Just wanted to give you my information for if you ever wanted to contact me with any questions or concerns...
email: heatherlake_cpt@yahoo.com and phone/text: 610-849-6770

Although i am a coach on the SS team I am adapting my diet to aspects of paleo as well. Even though i still count my calories, carbs, protein and fats the overall eating style of paleo is appealing to me, so I am reading to better understand this healthy living nutrition approach just as you are:) Looking forward to working with you all!

Kerri that dinner looks awesome!

Thx Heather for sharing your contact info with us. It is always nice to have extra support from various people. I am sure as you learn some new things with Paelo it will be very beneficial to all of us.

Heather, I am going to be doing the same thing. Kerri had encouraged us to check out the paleo blog at the end of the last 8 weeks and I had just logged on the other day and took a look. I too will still count my calories, eat some grains, dairy and legumes but limit grains.

I agree that Kerri's dinner looks amazing!

The food choices have been pretty easy for me so far. The family support not that easy.I am up against being told"you are setting yourself up for failure. This is not something you can do long term".Good thing I disagree. I have pretty much done the simple solutions part of the program on my own for the past 7 months.I have faithfully logged into fitnesspal for over 190 days. But the weight loss stopped no matter how much I exercised. and I was always hungry. I really believe this will work for me. That was a great looking dinner Kerri. Where do I find spaghetti squash?

Spaghetti squash is found in the vegetable area of the grocery store. I have gotten it at Kinsleys (shop rite) and wegmans... It's where butternut squash and acorn squash are. It's a yellow orange football shape!

You can sustain this! Don't let negative mind sets sabotage you! You will find what you like and what works for you!! I love Paleo and will never go back;-) you can too!

I am so sorry you don't have any family support. That's OK, because I don't either. I guess a good way to put it is that my family "tolerates" my choices - with the kids even poking fun at times, or saying I shouldn't have to go to all this "trouble" because I'm active, look fine, etc.

I got to the same plateau as you did after doing a SS type plan for a couple of years, and even with upping my exercise, I was stuck, stuck, stuck. Then the blood sugars starting climbing....

This fall it will be 2 yrs I am eating this way and I have no desire to go back. You can do it!!!

Hi Melissa, I've been doing SS but I do find myself feeling better when I make more paleo decisions. You can certainly do this and it is healthy. I can relate to not having support at home and I must say that this program has been my support. I know others are trying to achieve goals like I am and we are all there for each other. We may have different ways of going about how we are achieving them but I couldn't ask for a better group as a support team. You can do it!

Being the only one in the house on Paleo is tough, but this makes it easier! Thanks everyone

Another day completed
I made a binder also. Just finished punching the wholes in all my copies. Now to fill everything in. I work 9-8 tomorrow so I am determined to get up an hour early to go walk before my husband leaves for work and I need to fey my boys ready for school. I went to family dollar and stocked up on dried fruit and jerky. They also have cooked frozen shrimp. Prices were pretty good. I didn't job today but did work in my garden from 3-dark. That has to count for something. :)

Great Laura!! Word of caution... Fruit is at the top of the pyramid so consuming cut up veggies n beef is a better choice: simply bc it contains less sugar! By all means, eat the dried fruit just be aware of what you are consuming most! Have a great day!!!

I have not tried spaghetti squash yet, but going to go and get me some....looks good as I have been craving noodles lately. I think the visual will appeal to that craving. Will share my thoughts on it.
