To Keep Going...

Are you at a point where you dont know where to go from here? You have hit that "brick wall." You have done everything you think you can do to stay on track. Maybe you lost a bit of intrinsic motivation. Ponder this.....

Why did you sign up in the first place?

To be around for your grandkids/children? To be a healthier person? Not happy with appearance? Lacking self confidence? What was your reason for signing up for this major lifestyle overhaul? Are you achieving any of the goals you set at the beginning? Think about how you feel emotionally and physically?

Soooo needed to read this!!!Thanks Just a few days ago i was pumped, breaking down barriers, so excited for classes. today on the other hand have no ambition and beating myself down. I just need to stop letting my circumstances determine how happy I am. That's why I am here! Thanks for reminding me.

So welcome Shannon. Sometimes all it takes to keep going is a little reflection. Thinking about what type of person you are, where you came from, and where youre going to can often keep you on track (or get you back on!). Keep up the great work!

That's great Shannon! Keep those negative thoughts at bay!!! Definitely vent them here for support. We are all in this together, and together we can get through it. You can do this!

Last week everything going well then Sunday hit with a bang. Upper respritory infection. Down for the count out of work three days no workouts. BUMMMMING.

I figured I had better check in or Kerri might think she killed me with her Saturday run. Heart is still a bumpin

I agree Shannon. I also have days/times as you have described. I feel that I should be farther a long with my physical changes. And I seem to forget how great the changes are that I have made at this point because these positives are now becoming the new normal to me I am also having troubles with letting my everyday stresses not affect my progress. My biggest lesson to practice is to only control the things that I can control and I need to stop obsessing over the things that I cannot control (such as my kids--lol). I am hoping that the "reflection/meditation" time that I am incorporating into my regimine will help with this aspect.

On the mode of keeping it going, I was finally reading the book Ryan said helped him with the Paleo plan and came across this sentence which I think is great for anybody that is trying any of the classes for the first time at the gym. It said to exercise for the pleasure of the sensation, not to burn calories. I think this is just so awesome to keep remembering while on our journey. Yes, we are all exercising to burn calories & lose weight but when you are working out with such great friends and having a good time doing it, the calorie burn is such an added extra bonus!!! Having fun makes you want to continue the journey you signed up for.

I am inside of a 2 ton brick wall. On the outside I try to appear happy, but on the inside I'm still struggling. Everyone has been encouraging, motivating, wonderful etc but I continue to doubt myself. I have always feared failing therefore don't try anything so you can't fail. I know I NEED to smash that brick wall and I am working on it. Thank you DF staff for not giving up on me!!!

Kim,
That is one thing that will NOT happen to you at Dedicated, they will not give up on you. I can totally relate to your fears as we have all been there in some sort of way but just remember that the first step is always the hardest when it comes to trying something new. Remember, if you don't take the chance & try something new you are also limiting yourself to not improving either. The first step is always the hardest but once you take it, you will be so glad you did and you will have the biggest support group you can have with all of the people at Dedicated. Keep working & take those cement shoes off so you can take that step and the brick wall will come tumbling down.

Connie is 100% correct, no one at DF will give up on you....so never ever give up on yourself. Keep that happy face on but get yourself determined to "Fake it until you make it" :)

There is nothing to "fail" when you try to do your best each and every day. Slowly but surely, one foot in front of the other, one bite/meal/day at a time, and you are changing your lifestyle!

Chisel one piece of the way at a time!!! The thing is... As you chisel it away, it's gone, you have made progress! Slowly, you you break through! You CAN! You will! We believe in you! I'm proud of the accomplishments you've made so far, keep it up Kim!
