Well folks, obviously I am having trouble coming up with discussion topics after doing about 40 different ones in the past seven weeks. So, I was thinking, this blog is for you guys! Why not ask those who actually want and need the information! So, what are some topics that you might think would spark up a conversation and benefit those involved? Help me out! Help you out! Help us all out!
See you bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow morning!

HI! I have been researching this question online and wondered if Kerri or Ryan have any opinions. I know with the Paleo diet we should eat until we are full, and not count calories, fat. etc. My question has been with my struggle to actually lose pounds. I have been looking up what is the amount of protein/carbs someone who works out 5 times a week. Do you ever look at your carb/protein intake? I read somewhere that you should eat 50/60 protein gramsa day? that seems low.... Any sugguestions?

Kim, this is purely my opinion and from what I have read and researched. The paleo diet is intended to fed you what your body needs. You will surely be getting less carbs (definitely less refined carbs) than your body is used to. This will aid in the burning of fat faster rather than the carbs (since there is less). You cannot focus on carb/protein intake on this diet. That is more of a sensible solutions type of ideal. If you really want to lose weight and you are not seeing it (although I can almost guarantee your body fat is going down and muscle is going up) you would need to make sure you expend more calories than you take in. That again, is against the whole nature f Paleo. I think that if you focus on the bottom part of the paleo pyramid (meats and veggies) and less on fruits and nuts, you should get the proteins and carbs, and be able to lose weight. With the added muscle, your body will metabolize what you eat faster, hence lose weight. Sorry for being long winded and i hope this helps!

Kim, Just to second what Ryan says, it is SO important to ignore some of the "conventional" advice out there, even what comes from doctors (they get little to no nutrition education in med school anyhow). I am insulin resistant/prediabetic, so I eat as little carbs as I can, out of necessity. Obviously I am not passing out during cross-training or running (at least not from my diet, maybe from what the coaches are telling me to do hahaha). The carbs I do get are from the veggies. They are all complex and packed with nutrition.

Some more topics that we could cover if you are so inclined: (I struggle with some of these) - Stress mediation, supplements/vitamins - yes or no or maybe?; sleep and relaxation and its role in diet/exercise/muscle building as well as weight loss; hormones and weight loss; discussion of various Paleo articles on the web (saw one from England that referred to it as a 'fad diet,' which annoyed me); hormones and the females among us (proven to complicate weight loss issues...). Hope that helps.

I also am interested in what to supplement. I currently do not take any supplements. I try to do it all with food. I am also a bit confused about chia seeds. Some say good, some say bad. What do you think?

I understand what you are saying about the scale, Kim. Mine hasn't moved in three weeks, but my pants are loose and my body fat is disappearing. It is frustrating because I gave up sweet potatoes and lara bars in the past three weeks. However, I feel and look better and I have more energy. Stepping on the scale is a habit that is hard to break. I don't know how much protein I should have either. I crave steak now instead of other things. I do think we need to take vitamins. I just started taking them again.
