Where do you go?

2/26/2013

Where do you go for your Paleo information. When you need a quick meal? When you need information on the lifestyle itself? When you need resources? I am running out of places to go, so I am sure that most of you loving this diet are too. Maybe if we share our go to websites, we can all come out for the better!
     Keep up the great work!

Got chicken soup?

If you say yes, I sure hope it's not in a can!!!! That's a definite no no!

I am posting this because after being attacked by a relentless stomach bug I had to find a means to recovering. Lost five pounds fast, certainly not the healthy way and it will return when i eat!
Of course, sleep, time, sips of water and ginger ale (which is also - no no, holy high fructose corn syrup) ...
But what food was I going to attempt to eat? Saltines aren't Paleo approved but yes, I used em. What would you eat? What is a food we can recover with?

So, in preparation for another attack which won't ever happen ;-) I plan to have homemade plain, no spices, boring chicken and rice, as is, in the freezer or a soup consistency.
Thank goodness for family! To my rescue and to my dads rescue and my nephew Sean's rescue and Chris, Nicole , Ben and Matthew's rescue! My mom, made us this bland food! Its the best bland food anyone would make, if you are having a tastey bland food cookoff! Also some ice cubes flavored w pedialyte as per my request!
Whatever you do, don't do canned!

Why no Dairy?

We have talked a lot about why we shouldnt eat grains, but we havent really discussed why we should not take in dairy products. As you know, both Kerri and myself do eat cheese. I know that I stay away from regular milk, yogurts, ice cream, etc. Here are a few articles to explain why thsi choice is important:

Very interesting articles. I certainly learned alot. Let me know what you found interesting. All of these lies we have been fed (pun intended) our whole lives!

Where are your trouble areas?

Everybody has their weak spots. Could be environment, time of the day, who you are surrounded by....what is your trouble spot? A time/place/person who is around, that when you are in that situation, you find yourself having more trouble than normal.
I have a few. Weekends are tougher for me for a couple of reasons.
1: i have more time for myself, boredom leads to snacking
2: i know i dont have work the next day, which leads to the temptation of partaking in a few
             "spirited drinks".
3: running around doing errands leads to more eating out. sometimes hard to choose healthy
options and restaurants, which is made even tougher with w pregnant wife.
What are some of your trouble areas?

I found this article. It has alot of the topics we have already discussed from a different point of view. Check it out and let me know what you think. Something in this article just might make a change for the better for you! Talks about eating out, eating with non paleo people, and the ney sayers.

What keeps you going?

It is a struggle. There is no doubt about. But then again, they do say that nothing good in life should come easy right? So what keeps you from giving in? Is it reflecting on where you have come from? Is it the vision of where this journey might take you? Is it for family members, for self?
Adrianne, one of our team members really inspired me tonight. She is very knowledgable and does a lot of research when it comes to dieting and nutrition. As you may know, my wife and I will be having our first child in the next few months. She brought up the point to me, and even that she was excited, that we would be bringing in our baby girl to a grain free lifestyle! What happens when an individual is not exposed to the grains at an early age? Well i tell you what.....I am going to find out. Of course I know I am going to spoil her, but I also know that it wont be with food that is not good for her. Right now, that thought keeps me going. Thank you Adrianne!
     So what keeps you going?

    Into DO-NOT day!

How much will power you have? We talked about making conscious decisions last night. The fact is, you may be able to talk yourself out of a conscious decision, but you can never talk yourself out of an unconscious one. Are you being mindful? Doing your best to avoid the situation/room/environment that will make it different? Be proactive! Have a great day and let everyone know how your "DO-NOT" day went!
