I fond myself in situations, some that I put myself in, some that i don't, where I have a choice to make. Give in to the desires, or be strong and keep on the path that we are all trying so hard to stay on. I look down at my wrist, and there it is! I can make up my mind by looking at a bracelet!
Please share stories where the bracelet may have saved you from making the wrong decisions. So looking forward to hearing from you!
What's Been Going On? How do You Feel? We are 2 weeks into living more like a Cave-wo-man! How Does it Feel?
Yesterday at the meeting, Kerri brought up Primal eating and how it is a bit different. I figured some of you might have more questions about the difference. Basically, it comes down to dairy and saturated fats.
On Paleo, you try and avoid dairy products, whereas on Primal whole milk and dairy products are mostly accepted. On Paleo, you try and keep your meats lean, game meats preferred. The Primal blueprint is based on the thought that these people left nothing on the animal when they ate, so the fatty meat on the animal (saturated) is just as accepted.
Here is a link to an article on the difference. Please feel free to ask questions on the differences, or if you have any Paleo specific questions. Week 3 continues, and you continue to persevere!
Wow! Kerri sure knows how to get her message across. Perseverance and support are so important to becoming a healthier you. I know many of you may have been discouraged today due to the number you saw on the scale. Remember two things, weight fluctuates daily whether you want it to or not, and that the number is not what we are focused on. You make yourself a healthier person, put the right things into your body, and your body will reward you!
I was so inspired by the amount of people that stayed for my crosstrain class. We had 24 people! Two months ago, there was only three! Let us know what your thoughts are after the meeting. What questions do you have. What really stuck out to you What would you like to know more about? Have a wonderful weekend! Stay positive and persevere!
We all have questions that we want answered. And honestly, I need some help coming up with more topics to blog about. So, we are going to help each other. Lets have an open discussion (Thanks Katie and Karen), along with questions you may have. This should help our team as a group, and help our coaches figure out what has to be discussed at meetings and on blogs.
I heard a lot of concern about the amount of money it costs to eat Paleo. Of course the foods you eat are a bit more expensive. Id like to think that it is a supply and demand issue. Not enough people are eating healthy, and too many people are eating the junk, processed stuff. More demand, more supply, lower prices. It also costs less and takes less time to make fake stuff than it does to grow real stuff! I found a great blog by Robb Wolf on the price of Paleo.
Please read the link above and let us know what you think. Also think about this: changing your lifestyle now, for a newer, healthier you. How much money will you save in the long haul on medical bills, medicines, treatments, etc? I know it may seem like more now, but remember, you are taking part in thi
With new foods comes new tastes. This blog will be dedicated to recipes we have found, cooked, and loved! Please share your Paleo dinner successes with us all. The more options we have, the better chance of our success.
It was so empowering to see you all yesterday and share your results after just one week. What was even more influential was the smiles that I saw on your faces as you shared your one week progress with each other. As I have read the blogs (and more and more people have been posting since you were scolded...haha), I have noticed one thing. THE POWER THAT WE HAVE WHEN WE STICK TOGETHER AS A GROUP!
This made me think. We have talked about sabotaging thoughts, well how about sabotaging people! Who are the people you spend most of the time with? The answer for most of us is simple, our families! Most of the time, our families do not mean to sabotage our goals, however, they can do it without even knowing. I shared with you that it was very hard for me at home. Having a pregnant wife with cravings and sickness when eating certain foods has made it very difficult. This morning, she made my day. She was heading out to the grocery store, which in recent history has not been a good thing for me. She would come home with pretzels, breads, basically alot of stuff i could not eat, and it was downright deflating. Before she left today she told me she was getting back on the Paleo train!
We all do not have people willing to eat the way we do, or go to the gym with us. So here is my thought and advice to you. If you have these people in your home, that may be "accidentally stubborn" with your new lifestyle, you need to make them aware. Aware of why you are doing this. Aware of how the environment and comments may be sabotaging. Aware of how much you love them and want to be around the. And make them aware of how this journey is not only going to impact you in a positive way, but them as well. You cant do this alone. You have us at the gym whenever you need. You have your bracelet to look at whenever the need arises. However, we are not with you when you get home from work. We are not with you before you go to bed at night. Those you love and live with are. Making them aware, and having their support come come down, simply put, to you succeeding or failing. You have come so far in just this one week! Sit down with those people and make them AWARE!
Please share your thoughts and advice for those who may be struggling with this same issue. How would you deal with this? How have you dealt with this? Remember, positive is powerful!
A year ago I started a weight loss challenge with my family and a few friends. I picked up the Paleo diet after seeing the success that Kerri was having with it. Not only did it change my body, but it changed my mindset and the physiology i had to go along with my current lifestyle. It is hard, and it was a slow journey. However, looking back on my journey, and reflection on my pictures, I know that it was the right thing to do. I could not be where I am today without changing my lifestyle to live the Paleo culture. I will tell you that I am far from strict Paleo. As you have read on previous blogs, I do cheat, but I try to choose smart alternatives, and make up for my "poor" choices the next meal.....not the next day. I have put my before and after video below as per Kerri's instructions in hopes that it might inspire some of you to keep on the path you have started (hope you enjoy the music, haha).
Again, this was a year long journey. We are only asking you to do seven weeks. This is why we are emphasizing the mental part of it so much. It takes change to create change. If you can talk yourself into these changes now and stick with it, you will make it a more permanent change, and be better off for it. Keep up the great work, and I must say, seeing all of you today was a great inspiration to me!
You would think since I've been doing so many extra spin classes this week I would lose 2 pounds but the scale says not so, gained 1pound?!?!?!!!! What?! I would have fret before but since last year I've been tracking weight daily to see just how much it really fluctuates. I monitored food intake, exercise, water intake, and stress levels... So why then did the scale go up when I'm working sooooooo hard!?!
The body needs fuel to function... but think of it like a car... give it the best means of fuel and it will function at its best, take care of all parts and do proper maintenance... The body is also very smart and will protect itself. If I don't replenish my body with ENOUGH fuel, it will start storing anything I do put in because it knows it needs energy for the activity I am demanding of it.
But do I load up on breads and pastas ? NO WAY... That causes my weight gain and puffiness!
Instead i will eat lots of real food...I'm talking meat and vegetables my friends!!!
Obviously I didn't eat enough!
This morning I started at 5am.. Finished at 9:15... Tried to do some desk work but I was lethargic and unmotivated... I needed fuel so off to the kitchen I went!
This dish is remnants from the other night of grass-fed ground beef and a variety of bell peppers ( no green, my preference)... I sautéed my spinach today is an oil from WildTree (basil, pesto, grapeseed ) very tasty! Added the cherub cherry tomatoes to the spinach... Then added the beef mixture from the fridge to the spinach! Topped it off w an ounce of smoked Gouda just bc! ( prob not necessary!)
