After morning meeting thoughts....

Wow! Kerri sure knows how to get her message across. Perseverance and support are so important to becoming a healthier you. I know many of you may have been discouraged today due to the number you saw on the scale. Remember two things, weight fluctuates daily whether you want it to or not, and that the number is not what we are focused on. You make yourself a healthier person, put the right things into your body, and your body will reward you!
I was so inspired by the amount of people that stayed for my crosstrain class. We had 24 people! Two months ago, there was only three! Let us know what your thoughts are after the meeting. What questions do you have. What really stuck out to you What would you like to know more about? Have a wonderful weekend! Stay positive and persevere!

I have a friend who says...."why be dumb if you can't show it?", so here goes. I started Paleo (or what I thought was Paleo) back in October and when I went to my family doctor for bloodwork in December, my cholesterol was up 10 pts. She said I should get off the plan, but when Kerri offered these sessions, I thought I'd give it a try again and see what I was doing wrong. This morning a comment was made ..."if you're doing Paleo or Primal..."
What? There's a difference between the two? I thought they were one and the same. So I came home and typed in Paleo vs Primal on the computer and found that Paleo is more of what I should have been doing for those 3 months instead of Primal, which allows you to eat ALL types of meat, butter, whole milk, etc. I had purchase books by Mark Sisson and followed his Blueprint Shopping List.
Okay, I think I'm on track now. Just wanted to share...why be dumb if you can't show it.

Carol, you are certainly not dumb! Look how careful about all of this you are being!!

Still, I don't think 10 points are anything to panic about. I have been eating Primal for the last year and all my numbers dropped, eventually, especially the triglycerides. It was not an instant thing (except for the fasting blood sugar, that got much lower pretty quickly). Your doctor is still probably preaching the "Low-Fat, Heart-Healthy" diet to patients. They actually don't get much nutrition information in med school, so they are just "going with the flow." Do you supplement with fish oil? I take fish oil and a mondo-dose of vitamin D prescribed by my doc (my D levels are consistently low no matter what I eat/do).

It will be interesting to see how your numbers do with the "tweaks" you have recently instituted.

I was so happy to have all of you there! Just remember that crosstrain is a workout that your body needs to get used to. Pace yourself, ask me and your coaches/trainers for modifications when it just gets to tough. Most of all, enjoy the process!

Way to go, the first class back is always the toughest. Keep at it and you'll be back into the swing of it in no time. Great Job taking the first big step to getting back at it. Keep up the good work.

I can see how week 2 can be tough. I know personally that I started back up with grad school and have been extra tired this week. Because of that I did not workout like I wanted to. But it is okay! Because every day I get back in the gym is a better day. Life happens, you just need to keep pushing forward and make up for it.
